Biography:
Guy Dupree started his journey down the music road at an early age. His father’s love for music influenced Guy to learn to play guitar.
When Guy was 10 years old, his father gave him a guitar that he bought in a pawn shop. A few months later, Guy took the stage at his school and won his first talent contest.
After many years of small gigs with his father, and brother Steve, Guy became more interested In writing and fascinated with lyrics.
Guy said: “it has always been amazing to me that someone could take a pen and write some words on a piece paper that one day most of the people in the nation would sing along to."
He began to read about songwriting and attended writing seminars in his spare time. While sitting in and singing in a local club near his home, Guy happend to meet Louis Brown, who was in the audience that evening. One of his songs had recently been recorded by Keith Whitley.
Louis invited Guy to the local critique sessions of the Atlanta Songwriter's Association. He offered Guy a chance to co-write with him. It was a turning point in Guy's life, and he made a decision to pursue songwriting more than ever before.
In the mid 90’s he rented an apartment in Nashville, so that he could attend songwriter events and pitch songs.
He became a member of the Nashville Songwriters Association and The Atlanta Songwriters Association. He served as Vice President of the ASA. Guy is a BMI affiliated songwriter.
